Why Choose Wolfworthy EcoShell Poo Bags?

Crafted from Recycled Materials: Our bags are made from 75% recycled materials, including 50% recycled plastic and 25% bio-renewable Oceanex, derived from oyster shell waste sourced sustainably.

Higher Recycled Content: Crafted from 75% recycled materials, compared to Earth Rated's 65%, minimising environmental impact, reducing carbon emissions, and conserving resources.

Oceanex Technology: Oceanex is a remarkable resin supplement derived from powdered oyster shells. This bio-renewable material replaces some of the oil-based polymer, making our bags more sustainable.

Sustainable Solution: Millions of tons of waste oyster shells are generated annually. Oceanex pioneers in utilising this bio-renewable waste to improve the production of plastics. There are no GMO issues with Oceanex as it does not contain a food stock.

Commitment to Sustainability: Compliant with the EU's Single-Use Plastic Directive, Europe's bold move towards a greener future.

Thoughtful Packaging: Our eco-friendly packaging and roll core are made from FSC certified sources utilising recycled cardboard. Simply pop your cardboard into the recycling bin to help towards a more sustainable, greener future.

The Truth About Biodegradable and Compostable Poo Bags

There's much confusion around biodegradable poo bags. Although many people believe they break down and return to nature, this is not always the case. Biodegradable poo bags are still made from plastic but include an additive (now banned in the EU) to degrade quicker in the presence of oxygen. However, when buried in landfill, they remain intact like a standard plastic bag.

Compostable poo bags, while made from plant-based ingredients like vegetable or corn starch, also end up in landfills where conditions prevent them from breaking down as quickly as advertised. They need specific conditions, including temperature, moisture level, pH, oxygen, and microorganisms, that are rarely met in a landfill setting. This can result in the bags producing methane as they degrade and taking much longer to break down. Additionally, compostable bags tend to be thinner and tear easily.

FAQ's

Are your bags biodegradable?

No. Our new improved bags help keep our planet litter-free and healthy! We are committed to sustainability by crafting them from 75% recycled materials, including 25% Oceanex and 50% recycled plastic waste, HDPE. This change is in compliance with the EU's Single-Use Plastic Directive, Europe's bold move towards a greener future.

What is Oceanex?

Simply oyster shell extracts. Oceanex is derived by harnessing the power of the compounds naturally found in powdered oyster shells. The shell is denatured and blended with some additional organic material to create a superfine Oceanex powder. This powder is used as a high polymer replacement in our bags. Don't worry—there is no actual oyster in Oceanex, so plastics that contain it will not present a problem for people with seafood allergies.

Is Oceanex sustainable?

Yes. The shell of an oyster represents more than 70% of its total weight, resulting in millions of tons of waste shells annually. Processing oysters for food has historically led to significant waste disposal issues in coastal regions. Some shells are used as aggregate or in pharmaceutical products, but much has been landfilled or thrown back into the sea. Recently, there's been growing interest in putting this sustainable waste stream to better use. Oceanex pioneers in utilising this bio-renewable waste material, improving the production of flexible and rigid non-durable plastics. Oceanex also has no GMO issues as it does not contain a food stock.

Are your bags scented?

Our bag range is unscented as we prefer to avoid fragranced poop—not a great scent.

How thick are your bags?

Our bags are 15 microns thick, giving you confidence and security.

What is your packaging made of?

Our eco-friendly packaging and roll core are made from FSC certified sources utilising recycled cardboard. Simply pop your cardboard into the recycling bin to help towards a more sustainable, greener future.

Can I add a box to my subscription?

Yes, certainly. Log into your Wolfworthy account and ‘Edit Items’ in your subscription.

How long will the box last?

That depends on how many times a day your dog goes but if it is an average of 2x, the box will last about 4 months.

My subscription comes every 4 weeks so I won’t need a box every time?

That’s simple, just add it as a ‘one time item’ and it will come with your next order as a one off.
